5 Lessons Learned: Mail

Getting Your Mail to a New Address

When you are moving to a new home, you are going to need to do a lot of work. Finding the right place to move to can be a challenge, you want to make sure it has everything you need and is within your budget. Not to mention the amount of work involved with packing up everything you own and moving it to a completely new place. Then once you move you are going to need to be sure that all your utilities are transferred to the new place. No one wants to go too long without the internet, or to have a bill for the electric for a place they no longer live in. You also do not want things sent to your old place. This is why speaking with someone at the post office about doing mail forwarding is something you are going to want to consider doing.

Even though the internet is the best way to communicate with people, there is a lot of important information that is sent through the mail. You may get a communication from the city government about renewing your plates before they expire, or about a parking ticket you need to pay. Missing this type of communication can make it so you have to pay late fees and cause a lot of trouble in your life. With mail forwarding you can be sure that anything sent to your previous address makes it to your new home.

If you need to do mail forwarding, there are two ways that you are going to be able to start. You are going to be able to go to the local post office and fill out a change of address form to do mail forwarding. You are also going to be able to fill out this form online, but you will have to pay a convenience fee to prove your identity.

When you do mail forwarding there are going to be several things that will not be sent to your new address. If a package is sent through a company instead of the postal service, it will not be sent to the forwarded address. The post office will not forwarded any mail that was sent to your old address that does not have your name put on it.

When you move to a new place, there is going to be a lot of things that you need to take care of. You do not want to miss any important mail that got sent to the address you moved from. You are going to be able to get everything you need sent to your new home when you contact the post office about mail forwarding.
